Employee satisfaction survey Print E-mail

An employee satisfaction survey is a tool to analyze the level of satisfaction and the existing expectations of your associates. As a result of an employee satisfaction survey you get an overview about their actual opinion of the areas defined in the questionnaire. The survey is an answer for the question: "Where are we - as a company - at the moment?" it reflects the atmosphere, thinking style, and the culture of the company. It contains the interpretations of the official company processes and actions and reflects the emotions, attitudes and informal interactions concerning that processes and actions. The most important element of that type of surveys is the fact  that they provide a reliable feedback to the management about how their employee think and feel about the company. It is essential to know how they see and feel because these feelings have a big impact on the effectiveness and competitiveness of the company.

The final report of such a survey gives the following information to the management: which areas they have to pay more attention to, where they have to initiate changes or implement new processes to maintain or increase the level of satisfaction.
High level of satisfaction is a competitive advantage, since satisfaction has a direct impact on the performance. Satisfied employees are more effective than the unsatisfied ones.

The goal of an Employee satisfaction survey

  • To measure the general level of employee satisfaction
  • To identify factors that have a direct impact on the level of satisfaction and to find out which areas are the most influenced by these factors
  • To benchmark the level of satisfaction between the divisions or units.

Measurements method

  • Quantitative survey, using pencil/paper questionnaires - or today on line questionnaires
  • The participants assess their level of agreement to the specific statements of the questionnaire that investigate different areas of the working environment. They have to judge -each statement from two points of view: how big an impact the specific statement has on the performance and to what extent the specific statement satisfies their needs. Based on the information gained from the survey you will be able to identify the area that has the biggest influence on the satisfaction. According to the signalized importance of that topic you can decide about the needed measures in the next upcoming strategic planning.
