A mentor in a business environment is an experienced associate who guides and supports his/her teammate, his/her colleague's professional development and takes responsibility for the person's integration, training and development..
You will meet mentors in connection with integration, career, successor and talent management programs.
A mentor builds up a continous contact with his/her mentee, knows his/her situation and expectations, listens to his/her problems, guides the problem solving by giving advice, provides orientation concerning the organization structure and information flow. The mentor also provides reliable feedback, assesses the development and the work done at milestones, helps to create solution plans for newly assigned challenges. All in one he/she shares his/her knowledge and experiences and  transmits the culture and values of the organization.
